GRA, Incorporated ( www.gra-inc.com) is currently seeking to fill openings for entry-level research analyst positions. Founded in 1972 and located in suburban Philadelphia, GRA is one of the nation's most experienced and respected transportation consulting firms. GRA's practice predominantly involves aviation projects for both the public and private sectors, for international and domestic clients.
Some of GRA's current and past assignments have involved
*
the development and application of benefit cost methodologies for new regulations and investments by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other government agencies;
*
providing economic and industry analysis support with the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO), a unique multi-agency organization within the US government tasked with identifying and managing research and development opportunities for transforming the nation's air traffic management system;
*
advising on the startup of two overseas carriers including recruitment of senior management, aircraft purchase, market planning and cash flow forecasts;
*
assisting NASA in prioritizing its aeronautics research and development activities;
*
advising international carriers on alliance and routing alternatives;
*
building an optimization tool for airport passenger and baggage screening for 440 airports for the Transportation Security Administration; and
*
providing strategic and operational reviews of airline applications to the post 9/11 loan guarantee program operated by the Air Transportation Stabilization Board of the U.S. Department of Treasury.
In sum, GRA assignments extend across nearly all economic aspects of the aviation and aerospace industries. Because GRA is a small firm, our diverse practice means that a GRA research analyst is able to be engaged in a wider and more challenging variety of assignments than is usually the case in an entry level professional position. Research analyst work closely with senior professional staff, and GRA encourages an energetic, cooperative and collegial work environment.
Because of this range of assignments and challenges, the successful candidate will need both verbal and quantitative skills. Our expectations for the research analyst include an ability to write clearly and concisely, an ability to think analytically, and a demonstrated comfort with quantitative methods. This includes comfort with spreadsheet environments, generic statistics and computational software, and the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Successful candidates typically have the interest and capabilities to eventually pursue graduate work at a top ranked economics or business program. Since 1976, GRA has hired one or two analysts each year and all have successfully gone on to pursue economics or MBA degrees from highly ranked programs.
GRA offers an excellent compensation and benefits package that compares very favorably to those offered upon entry to other leading consulting and professional organizations.
GRA is located in a relaxed setting, in the near northern suburbs of Philadelphia. GRA's offices are a few minutes' walk from a regional rail hub station, which provides easy and direct access to Center City Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania campus, Amtrak's 30th Street Station, and the Philadelphia International Airport. Some of GRA's research analysts have chosen to live in Center City or in University City (surrounding the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University), reverse commuting to our surburban location.
