Auditor Trainee

Position_Description = Field Auditors conduct tax compliance audits of New Jersey businesses and corporations, which are normally  conducted at the taxpayer’s place of business.  Office Auditors conduct tax compliance audits of businesses and  various other individual taxes in an office environment.  Trainees are assigned various auditing assignments  of increasing complexity throughout their 12 month training period. Upon successful completion of training  and demonstration of auditing proficiency, employees are eligible for promotion to the journeyman title of  Auditor 3 Taxation.  Annual performance increases and cost of living raises are often provided.  Field Audit  positions are located throughout the State and office positions are located at Trenton.  

Qualifications = Minimum Requirements Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree, including or supplemented by 21 credits in Accounting.  Note:  Possession of a valid Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Registration as a Public Accountant issued by the NJ State Board of Accountancy may be substituted for the required degree in Accounting.  Must have completed classes required for your Bachelor’s degree by May 31, 2008; with degree awarded no later than June 30, 2008.   Degrees obtained outside of the United States must be evaluated.  A listing of evaluation services is provided at www.state.nj.us/personnel.   
Additional Requirements:  Must be a New Jersey resident as of the date of the walk-in examination which is  scheduled for May 3, 2008  Must have authorization to work in the United States  In accordance with NJ Merit System rules, these positions are subject to examination procedures  Positions are subject to a background investigation, which must be completed successfully  A valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation may be necessary for field positions  PLEAE NOTE:  Candidates who meet the minimum requirements, must take and pass a two-part examination administered by the New Jersey Department of Personnel. Candidates who pass part one, a walk-in written examination, will be scheduled for the second part, an oral examination at a later date at the Division of Taxation in Trenton or Newark.    In order to be considered for this employment opportunity, you must take and pass the written examination, which is to be held on May 3, 2008.
