SPW was established in London in 1985 and has developed a respected international reputation for its youth-lead health and environmental education programs.  Every year SPW harnesses the energy and enthusiasm of nearly 1000 young people (age 18-28) to empower youth in rural communities in Africa and Asia.  Uniquely, over 80% of our volunteer peer educators are recruited from the developing countries where we operate.  By partnering international national volunteers, SPW provides a way for young people from all over the world to share knowledge, experience and ideas, achieving much more than any of these individuals or groups alone.
