My name is Christopher Rodriguez, Director of Affirmative employment and Compliance Programs, Office of the Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the important employment opportunities available with CBP. We are presently hiring U.S. Border Patrol Agents to serve and protect our nation’s borders against terrorism and illegal immigration. As the largest uniformed law enforcement agency in the country, we are fully committed to recruiting a highly qualified workforce that is inclusive of women and minorities in support of CBP’s mission.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents have the initial earning potential of $36,658 to $46,542 within the first year of employment, depending on the candidate’s education and experience. CBP also offers great benefits such as overtime pay, accelerated promotion plans, health and life insurance, and federal law enforcement retirement plan. In addition, U.S. Border Patrol Agents are eligible to earn above $70,000 a year after successful completion of a two-year trial period under the Federal Career Intern Program,

The basic requirements to become a U.S. Border Patrol Agent are:
• Be a U.S. Citizen
• Have a valid state driver’s license
• Between the ages of 18-39
• Be physically fit
• Pass a background investigation, drug test, medical and fitness examinations
• Willingness to relocate to the Southwest border (Texas, Arizona. New Mexico, or California)
