Residence Director Graduate Assistantships
The Residence Life office employs graduate students as directors of each of our ten (10) residence facilities. Job responsibilities include supervision of 4-6 Resident Advisors, advisement of hall governments and programming, consultation for personal and academic concerns, coordination of administrative functions, and disposition of judicial violations.
Qualifications for Graduate Assistantships:
- Admission to a graduate program at Rider University
- Personal qualities which would facilitate the supervision of staff
- Ability to work with college students in an advising capacity
- Ability to work well with other offices on- and off-campus as needed
- Work experience in undergraduate halls or work/living experience of a related nature
- A two year availability is preferred and in some cases required
All Graduate Assistantships are for a 9 1/2-month period.

Rider University offers graduate degrees in the following areas: Business Administration; Business Education; Reading/Language Arts; Educational Administration; Curriculum, Instruction and Supervision; Counseling Services; and Human Services Administration. Residence Director Selection occurs in the spring semester for the following fall semester. Applications are accepted beginning in January. Half time Residence Director Graduate Positions are filled by a yearly process which takes place in late March. We will be interviewing at Mid-Atlantic Placement Conference at the begining of March.

Resident Advisor
The RA plays a very important role at Rider in making the residence hall experience meaningful and beneficial. With leadership, knowledge, skills, and outgoing personalities, RAs achieve the goals of community development and learning outside of the classroom.
Interested students should contact the Residence Life office at x5102. As you consider this position, speak with your RA or any Residence Life staff member about the job. You will find that the current staff has found it to be a truly valuable and challenging experience. As an RA you will assist other students and in the process you will develop skills that can be applicable in your future career.
