Religious Life
Rider Campus Ministry
Rider Campus Ministry includes the inter-faith activities sponsored jointly by the Board of Chaplains (various denominations at Rider). Events are open to all students regardless of their denomination and are designed to support and enhance the spiritual life of the Rider community. Particular emphasis is placed upon community service and outreach. Rev. Dr. Nancy Schluter serves as the chapel coordinator.
Religious Organizations
- Catholic Campus Ministry
In addition to Sunday Eucharist at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and Saturday at 4 p.m., Catholic Campus Ministry, a student organization, offers a variety of spiritual, educational, and service/learning experiences. These are published in the regular bulletin. Father Bruno Ugliano is the full-time Catholic chaplain. He resides in the Catholic Student Center (Emmaus House) located at 2116 Lawrenceville Rd., across the street from Switlik residence hall, 896-0394. Fr. Bruno is available to students on a roundthe-clock basis at Emmaus House.
- Hillel
A Jewish student organization offering social, religious and cultural programs. It participates in regional and national activities bringing Jewish students from different colleges and universities together. - InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF)
IVCF at Rider is part of an interdenominational evangelical campus ministry serving more than 35,000 students throughout the USA. The Rider Chapter meets from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm on Wednesday evenings in the Fireside Lounge of the Student Center. The meeting includes praise and worship, a special speaker opening up Scripture and applying it to our daily lives, and a time of fellowship. IVCF offers weekly small group Bible Studies, prayer meetings and spiritual mentors for students. - Islamic Ministry
Hajji Imam Dr. Abdul-Malik R. Ali is available for the Muslim students on campus as well as to offer information on his tradition. He can be reached at 695-8360.
- Protestant Campus Ministry
PCM (Protestant Campus Ministry) is the student organization which offers overnight retreats, opportunities for volunteer service, social events and spiritual guidance. Worship is Monday evenings at 5 p.m. in Gill Chapel where students offer a praise and worship service. Offices are also located in Gill Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Nancy H. Schluter PC (USA) is the full-time Protestant chaplain and is assisted by students from Princeton Theological Seminary at both the Lawrenceville and Westminster campuses. These interns offer weekly bible studies on both campuses. Rev. Schluter is available for counseling, for discussions, or just to listen. Religious Services
- Gill Chapel is open for meditation and prayer 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. The chapel office is located in the lower level.
- The Roman Catholic community celebrates Eucharist on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., as well as Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:35 p.m. throughout the year.
- There is a weekly Protestant worship service on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. in Gill Chapel, as well as for many special religious holidays throughout the year.
- InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has a weekly service with praise, a message, and fellowship from 8:00 to 9:30 in the Student Center Fireside Lounge on Wednesday evenings.
- At Westminster, there is a Christian Fellowship guided by the PTS Intern; Rev. Schluter serves as advisor.
- Religious services for Jewish students are available at Adath Israel Synagogue directly across the street from the south entrance to the Lawrenceville campus.
