Greek Life Traditions & Events

  • Recruitment - Year Round
Recruitment is a year long activity and students can join at anytime during their college years after they complete 12 Rider credits. Students are also required to have a 2.5 cumulative GPA to join. The majority of the recruitment process for the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils does take place at the beginning of each semester and culminates in a Bid Day celebration which commences the New Member Programs. Detailed information and schedules are provided at the start of the term through the governing councils and Office of Greek Life.

  • EOP Annual Summer Picnic
The Intercultural Greek Council annually sponsors a picnic during the summer session for all incoming students participating in the Educational Opportunity Program. It helps the students to feel connected and chat with upperclassmen who can serve as mentors and role models.

  • Step Exhibition
Sponsored primarily by the Intercultural Greek Council this annual event is designed to showcase the Greek traditions of stepping and strolling. It is held in the Fall semester and draws a large crowd of students from both Rider and surrounding colleges.

  • Greek Awards & Recognition
At the close of each calendar year, the community takes time to give recognition to the numerous achievements of both Greek chapters and individual chapter members. A reception is held in December of every year to provide a chance for the Greek community to review and celebrate their accomplishments.

  • Greek Week
Greek Week is an annual tradition comprised of sporting events, performances judged by University staff members, community service events, and educational programs that takes place during the month of April. The environment created by Greek Week allows the community to grow closer together and puts Greek Life in the spotlight of Rider University.
