2009 Faculty and Staff Team Fitness Challenge

Dear Rider Faculty and Staff:

As professionals in the field, we fully understand the barriers to maintaining a successful fitness plan coupled with a healthy lifestyle. Research has identified one of those obstacles as the absence of a workout partner to provide motivation and support. Concurrently, there is a significant increase in the satisfaction and results of a fitness plan when participants are part of a group. That’s where we come in…

Along with the Student Recreation Center professional staff, Rider Recreation Programs would like to invite you to partake in our inaugural Team Fitness Challenge. The structure of the program is based upon the idea that individuals from different departments on campus may share the same fitness goals and as such can benefit from achieving those goals together. Teams of 3-4 individuals, either from a department/division on campus or a group of friends, would form a team to support each other in our 10 week incentive program. Participants do not have to be members of the SRC to partake in the program but they can take advantage of current offers for participants. Each team will receive 1 complementary informational session with a certified Personal Trainer to use at their discretion! The program begins with the New Year, a fresh start and a fresh attitude toward setting attainable goals for a healthier you.

How does the program work? Beginning the week of Jan. 5th, and continuing every Thursday, you’ll stop by the SRC and record your body weight on your program card located at the front desk of the SRC. Don’t worry, your weight will never be disclosed. The only number we will use is the GROUP total percentage of body weight lost at each weigh in. That means each group member’s weight is added together for a total group weight. Each weigh-in, we’ll subtract the new group body weight from the previous group body weight for a total percentage lost. If you meet your personal goals each weigh-in, you will be entered into a raffle drawing for our grand prize pack worth $250! The most successful group at the end of the 10 week program will receive over $100 worth of prizes each!

For our New Year’s resolutions regarding our health and fitness, let’s make a long term commitment to ourselves and achieve our goals by motivating and supporting each other!
