About SGA
What is SGA?
The Student Government Association consists of a President's Council, a Student Senate, and Student Justices. SGA oversees the Subordinate Governments and Councils including SEC, Finance Board, RHA, ACS, Panhel, IFC, IGC, and ICO. Together these various branches represent the student body as a whole. We advocate for issues that impact the campus community. We have very strong relationships with Rider's President, Deans, and Administrators. With these relationships we are better able to serve you.
President's Council: Every Thursday at 5:30 pm in SRC conference room.
SGA has an executive board, and a President's Cabinet, which consists of two teams, the Organizational Affairs Team and the University Affairs Team. Each team consists of a team leader and four chairpersons as well as special assistants called Bronc Aides. Together, both teams create exciting and dynamic programs. In addition to programming, the teams help shape SGA policy, create diversity, assist new clubs in recognition, promote school spirit, create and maintain the SGA website and publicize SGA as a whole.
Student Senate: Every Tuesday from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm in Sweigert Auditorium.
The Student Government Senate is the principle legislative agency of the Student Government Association through which all students' suggestions, grievances, and proposals on campus-wide issues should be acted upon through the passage of resolutions, rules, and regulations to better student life at Rider University. Student Senate is an open meeting every Tuesday from 11:30-12:30 pm in Sweigert Auditorium, where representatives from all constituencies on campus meet to discuss, debate and handle issues facing the Rider University Community.
What are minutes?
Minutes are the instant written record of a meeting or hearing. They often give an overview of the structure of the meeting, starting with a list of those present, a statement of the various issues before the participants, & each of their responses thereto. In SGA's case, they are often created at the moment of the meeting bythe SGA Secretary at the meeting, who may record the meeting in shorthand, and then type the minutes and issue them to the participants afterwards.
Finance Board
The Finance Board is a democratic body functioning independently within the Student Government Association. Its primary mission is to develop policies and procedures to fairly and consistently allocate and monitor the Student Activities Fee to deserving individuals and groups.
The Finance Board is committed to supporting the campus community in sponsoring diversified programs. Social, recreational, educational, cultural, and community services programs will be represented when monetary allotments are distributed by the Finance Board. The intent of the Finance Board is to provide fair procedures for the campus community to sponsor a variety of programs and services that benefit and improve the quality of life at Rider University.
