Mount Carmel Guild of Trenton
Emergency Assistance Program
The mission of the Mount Carmel Guild is to assist poor and working poor individuals and families with obtaining the basic necessities of life such as food, clothing, shelter, and healthcare. They accomplish their mission through the use of trained staff and committed volunteers.
Rider student volunteers will work primarily with adults and senior citizens performing general maintenance duties, unloading food deliveries, sorting and organizing food deliveries, packing food bags to be distributed to clients, performing general clerical tasks, and working directly with clients.
Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon to assist with deliveries. Volunteers are needed on other afternoons to perform clerical tasks and work with clients. Due to space limitations, only 1-3 volunteers can work simultaneously.

Mobile Meals of Trenton/Ewing
Meals-On-Wheels Program
The Mobile Meals of Trenton/Ewing is committed to providing nutritious meals and related services which are designed to promote the independence, dignity, health, and well-being of homebound customers. The agency delivers one, two, or three meals daily to individuals who are homebound and are unable to shop and/or prepare meals for themselves. Meals are provided primarily by volunteers in Trenton, Ewing, and the bordering areas of Hamilton and Lawrence Townships during the noon hour each weekday. The primary goal is to support these individuals in their quest to remain safely in their home environment and provide nutrition sufficient to maintain and improve health.
Rider student volunteers work primarily with senior citizens and are utilized primarily in meal delivery. Volunteers may serve as "driver" (using personal vehicles, navigating a route with point-to-point directions) and/or "runner" (accompanies driver, brings meal from car to client home or apartment), and may be chosen to be a "regular" (same day each week, same delivery route) or "substitute" (called in as-needed). An orientation is provided to any prospective volunteers regarding procedures for meal delivery.
Rider volunteers may also be interested in packing and/or distributing non-perishable groceries to our clients, or assisting in our office by working on mailings, newsletters, or other projects
Student volunteers are needed any weekday, from apporximately 10:30am to 12:30pm for meal delivery. The greatest need is on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Days and hours are more flexible for students interested in volunteering in our office, which is open from 8:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
