Minding Our Business Xtreme (MOB Xtreme)
What is MOB Xtreme?
The MOB Extreme program is specifically designed to promote positive developmental outcomes among Emily Fisher Charter School’s higher-at-risk students. The program will cater to 12 male students of African American or Latino background, ages 14-18, and living in poverty.
This program hopes to achieve:
- Improved academic achievement in school.
- Employment through running businesses.
- Increased number of students going to college or pursuing additional vocational training.
- Increased students’ attachment to mentors.
- Increased students’ interest in owning their own business.
Students in the program will participate in:
Entrepreneurship training – designed to provide opportunities for gainful employment and for development of important work/life skills.
Academic Tutoring/Mentoring – designed to improve the students studying, reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
In the MOB Extreme program Bonner Leaders will:
- Work as the academic mentors/tutors 10 hours a week.
- Attend the entrepreneurship class.
- Help students prepare and present their business plans.
- Attend structured group outings and field trips every two weeks.
- Attend the Xtreme MOB Mentors Training Conference, September, 8th to the 11th
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Wednesday afternoons from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
