Rider’s Day-Neutill Honored by the MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider junior outfielder Tiffany Day-Neutill was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference softball player of the week for all games played March 19-25, it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Day-Neutill (Agoura Hills, Calif./Oaks Christian), a pre-season All-MAAC selection batted .600 for the week as the Broncs hosted the Rider Invitational against Villanova, Lafayette and Monmouth this past weekend.

I feel very honored to have won the award because there are so many great players in the MAAC,” said Day-Neutill.

“Tiffany is on fire,” said head coach Tricia Carroll.  “She is seeing the ball very well and driving it and she is also a risk to bunt the ball.  Teams have been having difficulty determining how to play her.”

Against Lafayette in Rider’s 6-5 win, Day-Neutill went four for five with a double and had a key bunt single in the ninth inning to setup the game-winning hit.  Day-Neutill is currently leading the Broncs in hitting with a .418 average (23/55) and recently had an eight-game hitting streak, raising her average over 300 points.  “I started off a little slower than I wanted when we were in North Carolina and at the begining of the Florida trip,” Day-Neutill added.  I was just stressing too much.  I had to remind myself why I play this game and that is because I love it and I have fun doing it.  Since then I have just been having fun and enjoying every opportunity that I get to play and I've been playing more relaxed.”

Day-Neutill, who is majoring in Biopsychology is a member of the MAAC All-Academic team and recently became the 39th Bronc to reach the 100 career-hit mark and her 116 career hits currently rank 30th all-time at Rider.

The Broncs travel to St. John’s on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader at 2:30pm.
