April 22, 2007 - Rider 5 Saint Peter's 1 (MAAC's)

The Rider women placed seventh and the Rider men finished eighth at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tennis Championships, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Friday-Sunday. “The women played very, very well,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres.  “They were really up for this match.”

April 22, 2007 - MAAC All-Academic

Four members of the Rider men’s and women’s tennis teams were awarded All-Academic honors by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference it was announced by the league office on Sunday night.

April 21, 2007 - Fairfield 7 Rider 0 (MAAC's)

Both the Rider men and women lost in the consolation rounds of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tennis Championships, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Friday and Saturday. “The men lost to Siena 7-0 in the fall, so we played a very good match today,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “We showed tremendous improvement.”

Both the Rider men and women lost in the opening round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tennis Championships, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center Friday. “Our women played Niagara a lot tougher this time,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “The men went up against the defending champs, who are a lot more experienced than us.”

The Broncs closed out the regular season with a sweep of Wagner College in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon.  “It was nice for both teams to get a win,” said head coach Ed Torres.  “Especially right before the conference championships, today was a real momentum booster.”

The Rider University tennis teams will compete for the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship this weekend at the USTA Billie
Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

The Broncs were swept in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match Friday afternoon.  “It was very windy but on the women’s side, we really battled,” said head coach Ed Torres.  “We struggled on the men’s side.  Fairfield has a very strong team and they took every match.”

The Rider men’s and women’s tennis teams were defeated in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match on Monday.  “It was a close match,” said head coach Ed Torres.  “It could have gone either way for both the men’s and women’s teams.”

The Broncs began the 2007 spring tennis season with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference loss at Niagara Saturday night. “The kids hit the ball well,” said head coach Ed Torres. “This was a good tune-up for the spring season.”
