PULLMAN, WA-The Broncs lost to Washington State Tuesday night in the third and final game of the series. "It was just one of those nights when we weren’t able to generate any offense," said Rider head coach Barry Davis.
WSU (10-6) scored three runs in the fourth inning on two hits, an error, a balk and a passed ball to take a 5-0 lead, and added four runs on five hits in the fifth to take a 9-0 lead. "It got away from us and we gave away some runs," Davis said.
The Cougars scored a run in the first inning on two hits and two Rider errors, and scored again in the second on two walks, a stolen base and a single.
For the Broncs (2-7) sophomore Sean Olson (Vineland/St. Augustine Prep) had two of Rider’s four hits. "He’s starting to come around at the plate," Davis said of Olson.
Sophomore Mo Williams (Tinton Falls/Monmouth Regional) and sophomore Adam Tussey (Brooklawn/Gloucester) also singled for the Broncs.
"One of the only positives was that we were able to get some guys into the game who hadn’t seen much action yet," Davis said.
Rider travels to Gonzaga to start a three game series Thursday evening.
