17 Broncs MAAC All-Academic

LAWRENCEVILLE—17 members of the Rider University indoor track & field teams were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team at the MAAC Championships Friday night.  "We want to win but we want to win the right way," said head coach Rob Pasquariello.  "Being strong in the classroom is part of it and academics comes first with us."

From the women’s team, seniors Allyson Angelo, Katie Chin, Jazmine Fenlator and  Jennifer Lee, juniors Elizabeth Clatch and Rebecca Clatch and sophomores Megan Crowe, Patrice Mahoney and Rebecca Riedel were honored.

For the Rider men, seniors Doug Beck and David Payne, juniors Joseph Lucchio, Paul Matuszak, Randy Nixon, John Smith and Jeff Stead, and sophomore AJ Parillo were honored.

"We tell the kids all the time that it is academics then track and there is no negotiation on that," Pasquariello added.  "It is gratifying that they take that seriously and that they go after the grades in the classroom as hard as they go after times and distance on the track."

Beck (Branchburg, NJ) owns a 3.667 grade point average as an Entrepreneurial major, Payne (Neptune, NJ) is a Finance major with a 3.551 grade point average, Lucchio (Staten Island, NY) has a 3.208 grade point average as a Secondary Education/History major, Matuszak (Philadelphia, PA) is an Accounting/Finance major with a 3.896 grade point average, Nixon (Manorville, NY) is a Finance major with a 3.315 grade point average, Smith (Cliffwood Beach, NJ) has a 3.318 grade point average as a Secondary Education/History major, Stead (Fairless Hills, PA) is a Business Economics major with a 3.716 grade point average and Parillo (South River, NJ) is a Global Business major with a 3.627 grade point average.

Angleo (Brick, NJ) is majoring in Political Science and has a 3.431 grade point average and Chin (Jackson, NJ) has a 3.417 grade point average as an Elementary Education/Psychology major.  The Clatchs (Drums, PA) are Accounting majors and Elizabeth has a 3.565 and Rebecca has a 3.560 grade point average. Crowe (Philadelphia, PA) has a 3.220 grade point average as a Secondary Education/History major, Fenlator (Wayne, NJ) is a Journalism major with a 3.547 grade point average, Lee (Mt. Laurel, NJ) is an Accounting/Finance major with a 3.249 grade point average, Mahoney (Staten Island, NY) has a 3.386 grade point average as a Marketing/Advertising major, and Riedel (Milton, DE) is an Elementary Education/fine Arts major with a grade point average of 3.307.
