Rider Finishes Runner-up at 2007 MAAC Championships
Modrov Most Outstanding Swimmer, Korn Most Outstanding Diver
Ceppa Diving Coach of Year

BALTIMORE, MD—The Rider men and women both placed runner-up at the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Loyola College. “We finished very strongly and competed very well,” said head coach Steve Fletcher. “The depth in the conference is really improving so it is harder each year to compete with a small group like we have. So to do this is very rewarding.”

For the Rider men, senior Brandon Modrov (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) won the 200 breaststroke (2:03.39) and was named the Championships Most Outstanding Performer for the second consecutive year. “I think Brandon was a little surprised at how well he performed this weekend,” Fletcher said, “pleasantly surprised. He was very excited to win the award.”

Junior Dylan Korn (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) won the 1-meter dive in a MAAC record score of 289.65, and was named the MAAC Most Outstanding Diver for the second year in a row. “Dylan did an amazing job,” said Rider diving coach Dennis Ceppa, who was named the MAAC Diving Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year. “He had a rough prelim on the 1-meter but came back and had one of the best events of the season. He’s a trooper. He didn’t let it get to him. He stepped up and did a great job. He’s the main reason I got the award. I’m extremely happy that I got this award again. The kids dove really well, and that certainly helps.”

Also, senior Andy French (Richfield, MN) won the 1650 free (16:09.43) and sophomore Josh Rosenbluth (Lawrenceville/Lawrence) won the 200 backstroke (1:50.12).
