Rider Athletes of the Month
Basketball’s Thompson, Swimming’s Urbanski Honored

LAWRENCEVILLE—Jason Thompson of the basketball team, and Lauren Urbanski of the swimming & diving team, were named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for January.

Thompson, a junior from Mt. Laurel (Lenape), averaged 20.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in January, while compiling 30 blocked shots in nine games.

Urbanski, a senior from Lansdowne, PA (Upper Darby), set Rider pool records in the 100 butterfly (58.35) and the 200 butterfly (2:06.24) and helped the 200 medley relay team set another Rider pool record (1:49.06).

In addition to winning those three events in a victory over Lafayette, Urbanski also won the 100 butterfly, the 200 butterfly and the 200 individual medley in Rider victories over Loyola and Howard.

Urbanski was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week the last week of January.

Thompson was named the NJ Hoops.com Division I Player of the Month for January and was named the co-winner of the MAAC Player of the Week award for all games played the final week of January.

Thompson currently leads the MAAC in rebounding (12^th in nation) and blocked shots (18^th in nation) and is second in the MAAC in scoring (27^th in the nation).
