MAAC Swimmers of the Week
LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider seniors Brandon Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./ Hauppauge) and Lauren Urbanski (Lansdowne, Pa./Upper Darby) were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week for all competition January 22-29 it was announced Tuesday.
"Brandon is now healthy and his performances show that," said head coach Steve Fletcher. "He is swimming better and as a senior, wants to go out strong at the conference championships."
Modrov was selected Swimmer of the Week for the second straight week after he won the 100 breaststroke in a pool record time of 57.97, won the 200 breast (2:08.72) and swam on the pool record breaking 200 medley relay (1:35.68).
Urbanski won the 100 butterfly in a pool record time of 58.35, and won the 200 butterfly in a pool record time of 2:06.24 and swam on the pool record setting 200 medley relay team (1:49.06).
"Lauren is just an incredibly hard worker," Fletcher said. "She is dedicated in her training and that is contributing to her success. She is very deserving of the conference recognition."
Rider competes at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships February 8-10 at Loyola.
"We are underdogs entering the conference championships," Fletcher added. "If we perform to the levels that we are capable of then anything can happen."
