Women’s Indoor College Track
Boston Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass.—Twenty days away.  That’s the time from today until the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.  It’s ‘go time’ if you will.  And the Rider women’s track team is taking the steps to be ready.  “I told the team last week that it’s going to be the little things that make the difference,” said head coach Rob Pasquariello.  “It’s not only performing in your event, it is preparing to perform and the team put in the effort and did well tonight.”

Senior tri-captain Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) won the shot put with an ECAC qualifying throw of 47’1.75” and was the top collegiate finisher in the weight throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 55’8.25”.  Sophomore Tabatha Haskins (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added a win in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 and was fifth in the triple jump (37’1”).

“I was really pleased,” Pasquariello said.  “The preparation and effort was really phenomenal.  Not all of them performed to personal bests however the effort was there that we are going to need to have a shot at a MAAC championship.”

“The three captains Jazmine [Fenlator], Allyson [Angelo] and Laura [Carpenter] had the team focused, prepared and ready to go and it’s an effort coming into a meet that we really haven’t seen before and that gives me some real comfort as we head toward MAAC’s.”

Also for the Broncs, freshman Karlise Cureton (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) was second in the 55-meter hurdles (8.60) with sophomore Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) finishing third in the high jump (5’6”).

“We competed against schools from a variety of conferences including Duke (ACC), Temple and La Salle (Atlantic 10), LIU and Monmouth (NEC), Yale and Cornell (Ivy) and Boston U. (America East),” Pasquariello added.  “By seeing a variety of competitors, once we get into championships, nothing will be new to us, nothing will be a surprise and we will know that we can compete with any other athlete on the track.  It’s almost like reminding them that everyone laces their cleats up the same way and that takes some of the pressure off and allows our athletes to just compete and do their best.  Our schedule is built so that we see top competition from a variety of places and we gain a lot of confidence from facing the schools that we do.”

Senior Danielle Holmes (Hackensack, N.J./Holy Angels) was seventh in the triple jump (36’3”), freshman Alicia Price (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) placed seventh in the shot put (39’4”) and freshman Jessica Tack (Hummelstown, Pa/Hershey) finished eighth in the shot put (38’5.5”).

“The effort in practice, in the weight room, we are right on target with where we want to be,” Pasquariello said.
