Modrovs, Coles Honored by MAAC
LAWRENCEVILLE—Brandon and Priscilla Modrov of the Rider University swimming & diving teams have been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week, and Chris Coles was named the MAAC Diver of the Week, for all competition January 1-21.
Brandon, a senior from Smithtown, N.Y. (Hauppauge), won the 100 breaststroke with a career-best time of 58.64 and won the 200 breast (2:11.95) and 200 individual medley (1:57.94) in Rider’s victories over Loyola and Howard.
Priscilla, a sophomore from Smithtown, N.Y. (Hauppauge), won the 200 freestyle (1:57.11), the 100 breaststroke (1:08.67) and the 200 breast (2:26.55), leading the Rider women to a pair of victories over Loyola and Howard.
Brandon and Priscilla were both named the MAAC Championships Most Outstanding Performers last year.
Coles, a graduate student from Plainsboro (West Windsor Plainsboro North), won both the three-meter (266.77) and the one-meter (235.57) dives against Loyola and Howard. It was Coles’ first competition since graduating from Rider last spring. Coles was the MAAC Championships Most Outstanding Diver in 2004 and 2005, his first two years on the Rider team.
The Broncs are home for the final time this season Wednesday, January 24, hosting Lafayette at 5pm.
