Justin Lindsey, the Rider University Athlete of the Year for the 2000-2001 academic school year, was named an assistant coach with the Rider track & field program in the fall of 2005.

“I am extremely pleased to add Justin to the staff,” said head coach Rob Pasquariello.  “He brings elite competitive experience from having competed on the national and international track scene for the last three years.”

In his first year, his sprints and hurdles group broke four school records for both the indoor and outdoor season.  During the outdoor season the men’s 4x100m relay team placed second at the prestigious Penn Relays in the IC4A division and second at the IC4A outdoor championships.  He has coached eight conference champions and one All-East performer.

A 1997 graduate of Ewing High School, Lindsey is a two time semi-finalist at the US National Indoor Championships in the 60 meter hurdles and a 2004 USA Olympic Trials qualifier in the 110 high hurdles. During the summer he competes on the European Circuit in Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, and England.

At Rider Lindsey was a five-time All-East performer in both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons, and won seventeen gold and six silver medals at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.  During the indoor season of his senior year, Lindsey won the 55-meter high hurdles, placed second in the 55-meter dash and second in the 200 meters at the MAAC Championships, leading Rider to a second place finish. At the ICAAAA Eastern Championships, Lindsey placed fourth in the 60-meter high hurdles.

During the 2001 outdoor season, Lindsey won the 110-meter hurdles with a MAAC Championship record time of 14.43 and broke his own MAAC record by winning the 100-meter dash in 10.98. At the outdoor ICAAAA Eastern Championships, Lindsey placed second in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 14.08.

“I’m very happy and very excited to be back at Rider,” said Lindsey, who served as a volunteer coach from 2001 to 2003.  “This is my home.  I’m looking forward to making a difference, and looking forward to winning a MAAC Championship.”

“Justin has volunteered his time in the past to work with our hurdlers and I have always been impressed with his technical acumen and his willingness to learn and implement new ideas into his coaching philosophy,” said Pasquariello. “Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from Justin's cutting edge approach to sprinting and hurdling.”

Lindsey resides in Jackson, New Jersey.  He is currently training for the 2008 Olympic Trials.
