Rider at Galbraith Diving Invitational
PISCATAWAY—The Rider University men’s and women’s diving teams competed this weekend at the Galbraith Diving Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University with junior Dylan Korn placing seventh in the three-meter dive. “Dylan moved up from eighth in the preliminaries and against this competition, seventh is nothing to shake a stick at,” said Dennis Ceppa, Rider’s diving coach.
Korn (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) placed seventh of 32 in the finals of the three-meter dive with a score of 236.00. Korn was the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Diver of the Year and has been awarded conference diver of the week honors three times this season.
For the women’s team, senior Shannen Kahler (Ojai, Calif./Chaparral/Grossmont CC) placed 32nd in the one-meter with freshman Liz Muller (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) placing 42nd
“Dylan competed against some of the best NCAA divers this weekend,” said head coach Steve Fletcher. “For him to final in his events is exceptional. We strive to push the program to be able to compete at a top level, against the toughest competition and Dylan has led by example, elevating his performances to match the competition.”
“This was a high pressure competition,” Ceppa added. “There were a lot of good divers there and overall, I was pleased with the way we competed. Today was a long day, especially for Dylan because the finals didn’t start until 7:30pm and we were at the pool at 7:15am this morning so it was a long day but he hung in there and the experience of the weekend will make him stronger as we head into January.”
