MAAC Championship Tournament
Rider Heads to Disney as the 8th Seed
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Rider University volleyball team heads to Disney's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship tournament November 16-18.
The double-elimination tournament begins for the Broncs on Thursday against Iona at noon. Rider was 2-0 against the Gaels during the regular season.
The winner of that match will face conference regular season champion Fairfield Thursday night at 6:00pm. The loser of the Iona/Rider matchup will play again on Friday, in an elimination match against either Siena, Saint Peter's or Niagara.
Rider (8-19, 6-12 MAAC) tied for seventh overall in the MAAC and is the eighth seed in the tournament based on head to head competition with Saint Peter's.
This is the third time in the past six seasons under head coach Emily Ahlquist that Rider is participating in the MAAC championship tournament.
