BUFFALO, NY—The Broncs lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Canisius Sunday. “We simply got out-worked today,” said Rider coach Russ Fager. “They out-played us and today they were the better team.”

The host Golden Griffins (4-5-1, 2-2 MAAC) scored in the 34th minute of play and held a 1-0 lead at half time.

Canisus scored three second half goals for the victory. “We’re struggling right now,” said Fager. “It seems like we can’t play two good games in a row. And today, work rate was an issue.”

Both teams took 20 shots. Sophomore Mike Juska (Wall) had seven of Rider’s 20 shots. “We clearly did not have as many quality shots as they did,” said Fager. “We did not have the opportunities that they had.”

Rider (3-7-3, 0-2-1 MAAC) had 10 corner kicks and Canisius did not have one.

Rider senior goalkeeper Dan Riverso (Williamstown) made seven saves. “On three of the goals Dan was left naked back there,” said Fager. “They were not his fault. He made a beautiful save one-on-one from about 12 yards out.”

“I felt (senior) Adam Bailey (Southampton, PA/Archbishop Wood) and (junior) Lee Tomasso (Westfield) played well today,” Fager said.
