Rider Names Witcoskie Assistant Coach
LAWRENCEVILLE—Mike Witcoskie was named the new assistant coach on the Rider University men’s basketball team, Rider head coach Tommy Dempsey announced.
Witcoskie comes to Rider from Wilkes College, where he served as an assistant coach for two years. Last year at Wilkes he helped the Colonels to the Freedom Conference Championship Game in the Middle Atlantic Conference, working in the areas of recruiting coordinator, managing team defense, scouting, breaking down opponent game film, practice and game coaching, and the individual development of post players.
“I am very excited about adding Mike Witcoskie to our staff,” said Dempsey. “Mike played for me when I was an assistant coach at Susquehanna. He was a very hard worker when he was a player and he has attacked the coaching profession with the same work ethic that made him successful on the court.”
“I’ve always admired Tommy for his basketball knowledge and his strong work ethic,” said Witcoskie, “and hoped that someday I would be fortunate enough to work with him. I’m very happy to be part of the Rider family.”
At Wilkes Witcoskie also served as the Intramural Director.
Witcoskie is a 2001 graduate of Susquehanna University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. Witcoskie was the Susquehanna men's basketball team captain as a senior.
During the 2003-04 campaign, Witcoskie served as an assistant coach at Susquehanna, where he was involved in every aspect of the program and also served as the Junior Varsity basketball coach and was the Assistant Camp Director.
Witcoskie is a 1997 graduate of Palmyra High School in Palmyra, PA.
