The Rider Athletics Golf Gala originated in 1985 as a means to increase support for Rider athletics, its programs and, most of all, its student-athletes. Since the Gala's inception, many improvements have been made in the areas of information technology, facilities, equipment, team travel, uniforms, team rooms and more.

The 23rd annual Rider University Golf Gala is scheduled for September 17, 2007 at Olde York Country Club in Columbus, NJ for the sixth consecutive year.

Golfers can choose between an 8:00 am and a 1:30 pm shotgun start. The $350 golf fee includes golf, Rider/adidas sportswear, breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner. The golf will be followed by the cocktail hour, dinner, awards ceremony, raffle prize giveaway, and the ninth annual silent auction. All proceeds benefit Rider's 20 Division I varsity programs.

eBay Auction to Benefit Rider Athletics in conjunction with the Golf Gala

Rider University Athletics will hold its ninth annual silent auction during the 2007 Golf Gala on September 17. It will feature an online eBay auction of a one-year membership to Olde York Country Club—generously donated by owners Ed, Rider University Class of 1975, and Corinne Eget.  All proceeds from the auction will benefit Rider’s 20 NCAA Division I athletics programs and more than 300 student-athletes by supplementing the general operating budget for the athletics department.

Beginning September 10 at 9 a.m. ET, bidders can access the eBay auction page by visiting the official Web site of Rider Athletics – http://www.gobroncs.com/ – and clicking on the link at the top of the page. Those interested will be allowed to post bids for the 7 days prior to the Golf Gala event and on the actual day of the outing as well. Computers will be set up at Olde York Country Club on September 17 to allow Golf Gala participants easy access to Rider’s eBay auction page throughout the day’s activities. Bidding will conclude at 7:30 p.m. ET on September 17 and the winning bid will be announced during the dinner portion of the event. Bidders need not be present at the Golf Gala to win! Interested parties can bid from their home, office or anywhere they have access to the Internet.

The one-year membership to Olde York Country Club, valued at $11,000, includes $5,000 for the annual membership dues and 1/3 of the initiation towards a full membership if the winner chooses to join. The opening bid will be posted at $3,000. Bidders can visit frequently to check on the status and/or increase their bid.
