Rider’s Poalise wins Player of the Year Award

GLASSBORO—Rider senior outfielder Mike Poalise (Hammonton) was named the South Jersey Baseball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year for 2006 Thursday.

Poalise, a recent graduate with a degree in Business Administration, tied for the team lead with 71 hits and was second on the team with a .338 average and 46 runs scored in 55 games.

Poalise was a first team All-New Jersey College Baseball Association Division I selection and was the Rider team MVP for 2006.  His 169 career hits are 19th highest ever at Rider and his 125 runs scored are ninth highest ever at Rider.

Poalise was named the Rider Athlete of the Month for March, 2006.

Rider (25-31, 17-10 MAAC) finished third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, advancing to the playoffs for the first time since the 2002 season, under head coach Barry Davis who was named MAAC Co-Coach of the Year.
