Rider Signs Two Pitchers
LAWRENCEVILLE—Kris Brown of Vineland, and Ryan Miller of Montoursville, PA, have signed national letters of intent to further their educations and baseball careers at Rider University, Rider head coach Barry Davis announced.
Brown, a senior at Vineland High School, earned first team All-Cape Atlantic team honors as a 6’2”, 195 pound pitcher with a 6-2 record and an earned run average of 1.73.
“Kris is a solid pitcher with a tremendous upside,” said Davis, who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year this season. “He has a plus fastball and will add to our already solid pitching staff. He has a chance to pitch a lot as a freshman.”
Brown was recently selected to the Carpenter Cup team.
Miller, a 6’1”, 170 pound senior at Montoursville High School, is currently 11-1 with an e.r.a. of 1.15. He has 86 strikeouts and just 14 walks. “Ryan will compete for a spot in our starting rotation immediately,” said Davis, who guided Rider to the MAAC playoffs this year. Miller was 7-3 as a junior and has twice been named the Susquehanna Valley league Player of the Year.
Brown and Miller join Eric Carmichael of West Grove, PA, Brian Herman of Levittown, PA, Eric Woodrow of Hamilton, Clint Lawyer of Mullica Hill, Nick Wojnowski of Baldwin, MD and Darron Lattomus of Springfield, VA, who signed on with Rider in November.
The Broncs finished in third place in the MAAC this season.
