Rider’s Fenlator at NCAA Regional
GREENSBORO, NC--Junior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) placed second in her flight and 13th overall in the discus at the NCAA Regional Track & Field Championships, hosted by North Carolina A & T. “Things just didn’t click for Jaz today,” said Rider coach Rob Pasquariello.
Fenlator threw the discus 45.29m (148’7”). “She had a good warm up, but it just wasn’t there in the competition,” said Pasquariello. “It’s such a long season, and I think that might have taken its toll.”
“Jaz is disappointed, but once the disappointment of today wears off, she’ll realize the great season she had,” Pasquariello added. “She broke every school record, and is already looking toward next year. To not only qualify for the Regional again, which in itself is a great accomplishment, but to place here and advance to Nationals. She’s not far off.”
Fenlator threw the discus 47.02m to place fifth and earn All-East honors at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships. That would have placed tenth at the Regional.
Fenlator holds the Rider record in the discus at 159’3”, and recently the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship in the discus with a throw of 46.66m.
On Friday Fenlator placed seventh in her flight and 20th overall in the shot put with a toss of 45’3.75”. Her personal and Rider record of 48’8.25”, set at the ECAC Championships, would have placed 10th at the NCAA Regional.
