Rider’s Hayes MAAC Rookie of Week

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University right fielder Jamie Hayes was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for all games played the final week of the 2006 regular season. It marked the third time he has won the award.

Hayes (Sunrise, Fla./Piper) batted .636 last week with seven hits in three games against first place Le Moyne.

Recently named the New Jersey College Baseball Association Division I Rookie of the Year, Hayes also had three doubles, a home run, and three RBI while scoring twice in the three game series.

Hayes raised his team-high batting average to .386 with a Rider Rookie Record 71 hits.

Hayes and the rest of the Broncs take on Manhattan, the second seed, in the four-team MAAC Championship tournament Thursday at 7:00 PM in Fishkill, NY.
