The Broncs came back to tie Manhattan in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Monday. The game, originally scheduled for Sunday but was rained out, marks the end of the 2006 Rider season. “We’re both young and are the top two teams not to make the tournament, so it is probably fitting that we tied today,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long. “It will be interesting to see these two programs grow over the next few years.” |

Freshman Alison Brody (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) scored the only goal of the game to give Rider a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win over Iona Tuesday, keeping Rider’s playoff hopes alive. “A lot of things have to align themselves for us to make the post-season tournament, but the important thing is we took care of business today and are still alive,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long. |

The Broncs lost to Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game Sunday. “It’s unfortunate that we lost,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long. “You’re playing the conference champion who certainly played every bit like the conference champion they are. Fairfield is a good team and looks in good shape to defend their title.” |

Senior co-captain Kelli Burke (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South) scored a goal and added an assist in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win over Canisius Sunday. “We knew that if we did not win today that possibly we wouldn’t make the MAAC tournament,” said Burke, “so that had a huge effect on the game. We felt this was a must win.” |

The Broncs began the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference portion of their schedule with a loss to MAAC-power Loyola Saturday. “I thought we played well, although the score doesn’t indicate it,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long. “Our team showed a lot of character not to give up, and maintain the same game plan we started with. I thought we did a good job of executing that throughout the day.” |

The Broncs fell to the Colonials Tuesday. “The second half we played much better,” said head coach Kevin Long. “We dominated play, we were more aggressive, and it was a different half. You can’t say they won the first half and we won the second half, and count it as a tie. We only get the loss.” |

The final day of September will be Soccer Alumni Day at Rider University, as the Broncs host Loyola College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s and women’s doubleheader. “This could be a great day for both Rider teams,” said Rider women’s soccer coach Kevin Long. |

The Rider women’s soccer team gave its coach the best birthday present he could ask for, a dominating victory. “The good news is that we were able to get a lot of offensive play in,” said head coach Kevin Long. “The bad news is that if we get that many shots, especially in close, we need to find the back of the net more often.” The Broncs defeated Delaware State 3-0 while out-shooting the visiting Hornets 34-1. |

Rider University women’s soccer head coach Kevin Long has announced the 2006 signing class. Eight newcomers will suit up in Cranberry and White for the 2006 season. The 2006 class includes five local players from New Jersey, one from Coach Long’s home state of Virginia and two from Pennsylvania. |
