Three members of the Rider University diving teams competed this weekend at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted by Rutgers University.  “Right now I couldn’t be happier,” said diving coach Dennis Ceppa.  “The divers are a tight knit group, they all get along and they all want to be the best divers they can be.  The team dynamic is great and they all want to better themselves.”

The Rider men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Harvard University with the women placing third of 16 teams and the men finishing fifth of 18 teams.  "I was happy with the effort from both teams," said head coach Steve Fletcher.

The Rider men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Harvard University with the women placing third of 16 teams and the men finishing fifth of 18 teams.  "I was happy with the effort from both teams," said head coach Steve Fletcher.  "The women's team showed their depth by placing high in almost all of their events and on the men's side, we had several of the younger swimmers step up in a very competitive environment and that gives a very positive outlook as we head into next year."

Have a happy HEALTHY new year.  A saying that’s been around for decades.  And for the Rider swimming and diving teams, entering the first competition of the new year, especially on the men’s side they are taking the healthy part literally.  “Having a full lineup today, especially for the men made a huge difference,” said head coach Steve Fletcher.  “It will give us a better opportunity to compete at the championships and gives us a huge lift knowing we can be competitive coming into any meet that we swim at.”

The Rider University men’s and women’s diving teams competed this weekend at the Galbraith Diving Invitational, hosted by Rutgers University with junior Dylan Korn placing seventh in the three-meter dive.  “Dylan moved up from eighth in the preliminaries and against this competition, seventh is nothing to shake a stick at,” said Dennis Ceppa, Rider’s diving coach.

Two Bronc relays and three swimmers competed in individual events for Rider on the final day of the U.S. Swimming Championships, hosted by Purdue University Saturday afternoon.  “We faced a huge adjustment swimming the 50 meter Olympic sized pool,” said head coach Steve Fletcher.  “We adjusted well and held our own against the top competition in the world.”

Seniors Lauren Urbanski of the women’s team, and Andy French of the men’s team, were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week for all competition November 14-20.  Junior diver Dylan Korn was named the MAAC Male Diver of the Week.

In the 2006-07 home opener, the Broncs picked up their first win of the season, as the Rider women defeated Lehigh. “It was exciting to get a win,” said Rider head coach Steve Fletcher. “I think they needed that, a morale booster to beat Lehigh. They’re a tough, Patriot League opponent.”
