Rider at Eastern Championships
Fenlator, Men’s Relay All-East

PRINCETON—The Rider University track & field teams competed in the Eastern Championships this weekend, the women in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, and the men in the In the ICAAAA Championships. “We had a great day today,” said Rider coach Rob Pasquariello.

Junior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), who placed fifth in the discus on Friday, placed sixth in the shot put on Sunday, breaking her own Rider record by 20 inches with a toss of 48’8.25”.

“Jazmine broke her own Rider record three times today,” said Pasquariello. “She was just fantastic. We train to peak for the big meets, and it all came together for her today. She reached a whole other level today; she took it to a new plateau.”

For Fenlator, it was the fourth time she has earned All-East honors, and the third time this year (indoor weight throw, outdoor discus and shot).

The Rider men’s 4 x 100 relay team of junior David Payne (Neptune), freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken), senior Jay Hill (Matawan/St. JohnVianney) and senior Jamaal Harris (Beverly, N.J./Palmyra) placed second overall (41.44), the highest finish ever by a Rider relay team.

“Hill and Harris, the third and fourth legs, really made that happen today,” said Pasquariello. “Jay had a great turn and Jamaal held off a lot of great runners down the stretch.  This was a great way to end their Rider careers.”

Coach Pasquariello gave much of the credit of the relay’s success to assistant coach Justin Lindsey. “Justin did such a great job with the entire sprint group all year,” said Pasquariello. “They really accepted him and his training and they did a tremendous job working together.”

Also on Sunday, junior Katie O’Connor (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) high jumped 5’5”.
