EDISON-Ten members of the Rider softball team were named to the 2006 MAAC All-Academic team.

Seniors Heather Beintema (La Mesa, Calif./Grossmont), Jill Carrabus (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport), Jamie Farley (Clifton, N.J./Clifton), juniors Ashley Boulden (Brooklawn, N.J./Gloucester), Desiree Harbaugh (Frederick, Md./Gov. Carrabus is a three-time honoree, with Boulden, Harbaugh and Murphy having been honored twice.

“Having 10 members of the team honored is pretty impressive,” said head coach Tricia Carroll, who has guided the Broncs to the MAAC playoffs in three of the past four seasons.

Beintema (3.29 g.p.a.) is graduating with a degree in Secondary Education, Carrabus (3.44 g.p.a.) is graduating with a degree in Elementary Education/Communications and Farley (3.24 g.p.a.) is graduating with a degree in Biology.

Boulden (3.72 g.p.a.) is an Elementary Education/American Studies major, Harbaugh (3.47 g.p.a.) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major, Murphy (3.87 g.p.a.) is an Elementary Education/Psychology major, Day-Neutill (3.96 g.p.a.) is a Biopsychology major, Holland (3.31 g.p.a.) is a Communications major, Schiller (3.49 g.p.a.) is a Finance major and Sekly (3.30 g.p.a.) is an Advertising major.

“It is a true testament to these kids and how hard they work.  They are true ‘student-athletes’,” Carroll added.  As a team during the Fall 2004 semester, softball achieved the highest team g.p.a of Rider’s 20 sports (3.43).
