Rider Signs Two More Recruits
LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—Ilda Llamas of Santee, California, and Melissa Kowalczyk of Williamsburg, Virginia, have signed national letters of intent to further their educations and basketball careers at Rider University, Rider head coach Tori Harrison announced.
Llamas, a senior at West Hills High School, is a 6’3” center. Kowalczyk, a senior at Jamestown High School, is a 6’2” center.
“Melissa is a strong rebounder and plays solid defense,” said Harrison, who is entering her third season at Rider. “She will add a physical presence in the post for us next year. Ilda is another player with some size for us. With their size hopefully we will be a better rebounding team. I am excited to have true post players to work with.”
Llamas’ top games last season including a 17 point game and a 14 rebound contest last year. Kowalczyk was the starting center on the Virginia AA State Champions as a senior, leading her team to the District and Regional Championships as a sophomore.
Llamas and Kowalczyk join Stephanie Wisniewski of Levittown, PA, a senior at Villa Joseph Marie High School, as incoming freshmen at Rider.
Wisniewski is a 6’2” forward/center who was a four-year starter at Villa Joseph Marie, averaging 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocks per game, earning All-Academy League All-Star honors as her team MVP.
