Rider Women's Soccer Reads at Stony Brook Elementary
On March 31, 2006, the Rider women’s soccer team visited Stony Brook Elementary School in Pennington, New Jersey, to read to several of their classes.
The event was setup by sophomore education major Shana Herman (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) and Ann Marie Anthony was the coordinating teacher at Stony Brook.
"At first, I didn't really know what to do in front of the whole class, but the students were great, and they really seemed to enjoy having us there," said sophomore journalism major Stephanie Madden (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven Regional). “When it was all over, we probably had more fun than the students did,” Madden added.
“We were able to make a positive and lasting impression with these children and we look forward to going back,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long who just completed his third season.
