Rider, Maroney Honored for Academics
LAWRENCEVILLE—The Rider University wrestling team, along with senior Joe Maroney, were honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their high grade point averages.
Maroney (Bensalem, PA) was one of 68 wrestlers to be named a NWCA Academic All-American.
Rider, as a team, was ranked 18th in the nation with a team grade point average of 2.925.
Maroney was named the Colonial Athletic Association Scholar Athlete of the Year for wrestling, possessing a grade point average of 3.603 as a Biology major, while placing runner-up in the CAA Championships and qualifying for the NCAA Division I National Championships.
Maroney is graduating next week from Rider in just three years, and has been accepted in the Physician’s Assistant program at Arcadia University.
