Rider’s Kennedy NJCBA Rookie of Week
LAWRENCEVILLE—Jimmer Kennedy, a freshman pitcher on the Rider University baseball team, was named the New Jersey College Baseball Association Rookie of the Week for all games played the final week of April.
Kennedy (Levittown, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) pitched in two victories for Rider last week. In 14 innings of work against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals Niagara and Saint Peter’s, Kennedy struck out 10 and walked just one, allowing three earned runs.
Against Saint Peter’s, Kennedy pitched a three-hitter and struck out six, allowing just one unearned run for the victory, improving to 5-2 on the season. In Rider’s extra inning win over Niagara that put Rider in first place in the MAAC, Kennedy pitched seven innings without a decision or a walk.
Earlier this season (March 20-26), Kennedy was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week.
