Rider 2nd  of 9 at MAAC Championships-Day Two

ORLANDO, FLORDIA—The Rider University golf team shot a 305 on Saturday, the best round of the tournament, for a two-day total of  622 to move up from fifth to second place in the three-day Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Golf Championships, held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. “We had a much better day today, as expected,” said Rider head coach Chet Dalgewicz.

For the Broncs, sophomore Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton), who shot a 76 on Friday, had a 74 Saturday on the par 72 Magnolia Golf Course for a two-day total of 150, good for fourth place among the 45 golfers.

Sophomore Josh Krumholz (Reading, PA/Gov. Mifflin) shot an 81 on Friday but came back with a 75 on Saturday for a 156, good for ninth place overall.

“The kids bounced back from a really tough round yesterday and had a pretty good round today,” said Dalgewicz.

Also for Rider, senior Jonathan Kent (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) shot a 77 on Friday and an 82 on Saturday for a 159, good for 14th overall.

Senior Brad Domenico (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) shot an 84 on Friday and a 76 on Saturday for a total of 160

Sophomore Dylan Maxey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) had an 83 on Friday and an 80 on Saturday for a 163.

Rider trails Siena by 10 strokes going into the final round Sunday. “Ten strokes is a lot to make up,” said Dalgewicz, “but you never know what is going to happen. We hope to have another good round and we’ll see what happens. Six teams did worse Saturday then Friday, so if we improve and others go the other way, who knows?”

Play continues Sunday.
