Rider at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, PA—The Rider University track & field teams will send their largest contingent in recent memory to the 2006 Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
On Thursday junior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) will compete in the Women's College Discus, freshman Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) and junior Katie O’Connor (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) will compete in the Women's Eastern high jump, and sophomore Rebecca Clatch (Drums, Pa./Hazelton Area) will compete in the Women's College Javelin.
Fenlator threw the discus an NCAA Regional qualifying distance of 48.02m earlier this month, and holds the Rider record at 159’3”. Earlier this month, Kajunski and O’Connor both set a Rider record and qualified for ECAC’s in the high jump (5’7”).
On Friday, junior Doug Beck (Branchburg/Somerville) will compete in the Men's College Discus. Beck was the MAAC Performer of the Week in April when he threw the discus an NCAA Regional qualifying distance of 51.97m to win the event at the Rider Quad Meet with Delaware, Sacred Heart and Saint Peter’s. Beck is the Rider record holder in the discus (172’4”).
Rider will also compete in the men’s 4 x 100, 4 x 200, Distance Medley and 4 x 400 relays, and the women’s Shuttle Hurdles.
The key members of the men’s relays will be freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken), senior Jamaal Harris (Beverly, N.J./Palmyra), junior David Payne (Neptune), senior Jay Hill (Matawan, N.J./St. John Vianney), freshman Anthony Parillo (South River, N.J./South River), senior Ayotunde Owodunni (Sicklerville, N.J./Highland Regional).
