Men: Rider University 6, Loyola College 1
Women: Loyola College 5, Rider University 2

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match with Loyola Monday, with the men getting their first MAAC victory. “It was good timing for the men to get a MAAC win, right before the tournament,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “That will help keep us away from the top two teams in the first round.”

For the Rider men (10-11, 1-5 MAAC) junior Ragdee Saberon (Berlin, NJ/Overbrook) won at first singles and first doubles.  “Ragdee played very well,” said Torres. “He won easily.”

Freshman Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) won at third singles and second doubles, and senior Mike Greenberg (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock) win at fourth singles and second doubles. “Casey beat their best player,” said Torres. “This was a nice win. We don’t beat Loyola that often.”

For the Rider women (11-7, 2-4 MAAC) juniors Devin and Caitlin Crawbuck (Jacobstown/Northern Burlington Regional) won at singles. “The Loyola women are always a solid program, top to bottom,” said Torres.

The victory for Caitlin was her 16th straight. “That is an amazing accomplishment, with the competition she has faced,” said Torres, who won his first 31 matches at Rider before suffering his only collegiate loss as a junior. “That was a different time, a different era.”

Rider will now compete in the MAAC Championships April 21-23 at the USTA Center in New York.
