Rider 2nd of 15 at Navy Spring Invitational
ANNAPOLIS, MD—The Broncs shot a 289 on Saturday, the lowest round of the tournament, for a two-day total of 585 to finish second in the 15 team-field Navy Spring Invitational, held at the United States Naval Academy Golf Course. “Finishing second in a field like this shows our kids really want to compete with the best,” said Rider head coach Chet Dalgewicz. “To fire the kind of numbers we did this weekend was outstanding.”
Host Navy won the tournament with a 582.
For the Broncs, sophomore Dylan Maxey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) placed sixth among the 75 golfers with a 36-hole score of 144. Maxey shot a par 71 on Friday and a 73 on Saturday. “Dylan is running a hot streak,” Dalgewicz said. “He has had three good tournaments in a row.”
Sophomore Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) and senior Brad Domenico (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) tied for 17th overall at 148. Brewington shot a par 71 on Saturday, while Domenico had a 73 on Saturday. “Tyler did a fine job today,” said Dalgewicz.
Sophomore Josh Krumholz (Reading, PA/Gov. Mifflin) shot a 72 on Saturday to finish tied for 21st at 149 with senior Jonathan Kent (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West), who shot a 73 on Friday and a 76 Saturday for a 149 to finish 21st.
Rider competes at the MAAC Championship April 27-29 in Orlando, Florida. “this was a great rune up for the MAAC Championships, and beating Loyola today was a good sign of things to come,’ said Dalgewicz. “I see the MAACs as a three-team race, with Loyola, the defending champion, Siena, a very strong team, and us. If we play next weekend like we played this weekend, who knows?”
