Rider 6th at Navy Spring Invitational-Day One
ANNAPOLIS, MD—The Broncs shot a 296 on Friday and are in 6th place in the 15 team-field after the first day of the two-day Navy Spring Invitational, held at the United States Naval Academy Golf Course. “We’re in the hunt,” said Rider head coach Chet Dalgewicz. “296 is a nice score on this course.”
Sophomore Dylan Maxey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) shot a par 71 to lead the Broncs. “Maxey is on fire,” said Dalgewicz. “He was three over on the front nine, and came back and had three birdies on the back nine to finish at par. He’s a fighter.” Maxey is tied for fourth out of 85 golfers.
Senior Jonathan Kent (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) shot a 73 and is in 13th place, with senior Brad Domenico (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) shooting a 75 for 31st place.
Sophomore Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) and sophomore Josh Krumholz (Reading, PA/Gov. Mifflin) each shot a 77 and are tied for 54th.
“Our scores are respectable,” said Dalgewicz.
Navy leads the field with a 289, followed by George Washington at 290.
Play continues Saturday.
