Men’s College Tennis
Rider University 4, Monmouth University 3

WEST LONG BRANCH—The Broncs defeated Monmouth for the second time this year, having beaten the Hawks in the fall at Rider. “We had some players who were ill and couldn’t play singles, so we changed things around a bit today and came away with a win,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres.

Freshman Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) played his first match at first singles and won the fourth and deciding point for the victory.  Jedlinski also won at doubles. “Casey was the star of the day,” said Torres.  “He beat a very good player. The last time we played them their number one player beat Ragdee.”

Junior Ragdee Saberon (Berlin, NJ/Overbrook) moved down to second singles and also won at both singles and doubles for Rider.

“The whole team played well,” said Torres. “Overall it was a very good win, especially since we didn’t have two starters in singles. (Senior) Chris Stanco (Downingtown, PA) gutted it out and played doubles for us, but he had a fever and couldn’t play singles. It was a good thing he played doubles, we needed that point.”

Rider hosts Wagner Thursday.
