FAIRFIELD, CT—The Broncs were swept by the Stags in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Fairfield Sunday. “Fairfield is a good team,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. ‘Their men have won nine in a row.”
For the Rider women (2-2, 1-1 MAAC), twin sisters Caitlin and Devin Crawbuck (Jacobstown/Northern Burlington Regional) won their singles matches. “The twins wear down their opponents,” said Torres. “They are so steady. Their opponents get frustrated, having to hit the ball 20 times before getting a point, so they go for winners too soon and lose the point. Caitlin and Devin played well today.”
For the Rider men (3-3, 0-2 MAAC), freshman Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) won at third singles. “Casey was the star today,” said Torres. “He beat a very good player.”
The Rider men play at Monmouth Tuesday, and the men and women are home Thursday against Wagner.
