LAWRENCEVILLE— Senior Chris Stanco (Downingtown, PA) won singles and doubles to lead Rider to victory over Fordham Tuesday. “This was a good match between two evenly matched teams, but Chris was the man today,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “Stanco was the hero.”

Stanco won at first doubles with junior Ragdee Saberon (Berlin, NJ/Overbrook). “Chris and Ragdee trailed 4-0 and came back to win seven straight points,” said Torres. “That gave us the double points, which was key.”

The match was tied at 3-3 and the second singles went to a third set, with Stanco winning the tie-breaker to end the match. “They were the last ones out on the court,” said Torres. “Chris played very well, attacking the net. He had a lot of good put-aways. Usually we play a 10-point tie breaker, but it was getting dark and both players agreed to play a seven-point tie-breaker, and Chris just killed him.”

Freshman Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) won at third singles for Rider. “Casey won easily,” said Torres.

The Broncs host Delaware State Sunday.
