Rider at Monmouth Invitational
WEST LONG BRANCH—The Broncs began the outdoor season at the Monmouth Invitational Saturday. “Considering the weather and being the first time out, overall is was a very good day,” said Rider coach Rob Pasquariello. “We had a lot of good performances.”
For the Rider women, junior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) broke the Rider record in the shot put (46’11.5”), and qualified for both the ECAC Championships and the NCAA Regionals, while placing second. “Jazmine broke the school record by a foot and a half,” said Pasquariello.
Fenlator also won the hammer (155’6”) and qualified for the ECACs in the discus (140’7”), placing third.
For the Rider men, junior David Payne (Neptune) won the 200m with an IC4A qualifying time of 21.62. “That was an outdoor personal record for David,” said Pasquariello. “To run that fast in the first meet of the season is pretty impressive.”
Junior Danny Enck (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) broke the Rider record in the hammer with an IC4A qualifying distance of 170’4” to place second.
Junior Doug Beck (Branchburg/Somerville) was the top collegiate finisher in the discus (142’ 11”), and placed fourth in the shot put (48’4.5”).
Freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) won the long jump (21’9.5”) and was third in the 200m (22.05).
Freshman Tim Cook (Glassboro) placed second in the high jump (6’6”), senior Adam Kucinski (Erial, N.J./Highland Regional) placed second in the long jump (21’5.25”) and sophomore Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) placed second in the 1500m (4:02.56).
Sophomore Andre Fearon (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) placed third in the 1500m (4:02.76) and sophomore Randy Nixon (Manorville, NY/West Hampton) placed third in the 110m hurdles (15.37).
The men’s 4 x 100 relay of s Senior Jamaal Harris (Beverly, N.J./Palmyra), Payne, Hamilton and Nixon placed second (41.75), and the 4 x 400 relay team of junior Dave Lado (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial), freshman Anthony Parillo (South River, N.J./South River), senior Ayotunde Owodunni (Sicklerville, N.J./Highland Regional) and Harris placed second (3:18.52)
Also for the Rider women, junior Danielle Holmes (Hackensack, N.J./Holy Angels) placed second in the triple jump (35’6”), sophomore Savannah Knox (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) placed fourth in the 800m (2:23.46), junior Katie O’Connor (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) was fourth in the high jump (5’2”) and senior Mechea Medine (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) was fifth in the long jump (16’6.5”).
Rider competes in the Lafayette Invitational April 1, and the location of that meet has been changed from Lafayette to Rider.
