Rider Runner-up at Lonnie Barton Memorial
BLUFFTON, SC—The Broncs began their spring season by placing second of 15 teams at the second annual Lonnie Barton Memorial tournament, held Saturday and Sunday. “I was very pleased with the way we came out today and shot a 300 this early in the season on a very difficult course,” said Rider golf coach Chet Dalgewicz.
Ride’s round of 300 on Sunday was the second best round of the tournament, to finish with a 36-hole total of 625, second only to Jackson State’s 611. “I was very happy with the way we responded today after not shooting as well as we could have yesterday,” said Dalgewicz.
For the Broncs, senior Brad Domenico (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) finished seventh among the 81 golfers with a 154 (79/75). “Brad really put it together this weekend,” said Dalgewicz. “He didn’t break 80 in two practice rounds down here, but he came up big for us when it counted.”
Sophomore Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) was eighth overall with a 155 (78/77). “Tyler had two decent rounds on a very tough course,” said Dalgewicz.
Also for Rider, sophomore Josh Krumholz (Reading, PA/Gov. Mifflin) shot a team-best 73 on the par 72 Pinecrest Golf Club course and finished 18th overall with a 159 (86/73) and sophomore Dylan Maxey (Montrose, PA/Montrose Area) finished 29th with a 163 (88/75).
“To have four scores in the 70s on this course today was not very easy to do,” said Dalgewicz. “The kids did a real nice job.”
Rider senior Jonathan Kent (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) was 51st overall with a 169 (82/87).
Rider returns to the links April 1-2 at the Towson Invitational.
