Rider Men and Women Runner-up
NEW YORK, NY—The Broncs finished runner-up to perennial champion Manhattan at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, held Friday at the 168th Street Armory. “We can’t fault the effort, we gave everything we had,” said Rider coach Rob Pasquariello. “Manhattan was just better than us today. But to be honest, we’re disappointed. We have to find a way to get better.”
For the men junior David Payne (Neptune) won the 200m in a Rider-record and MAAC Championship record of 21.46, and also won the 55m dash (6.44).
Sophomore Randy Nixon (Manorville, NY/West Hampton) won the 55m hurdles (7.69) and placed fifth in the 55m dash (6.53) and fifth in the 200m (22.50) and senior Ayotunde Owodunni (Sicklerville, N.J./Highland Regional) won the 400m (49.89).
For the Rider women, senior Carla Wynter (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clarke) won the 200m (25.84) and was third in the 55m dash (7.47) and third in the 400m (59.40). Senior Ashley Miller (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) won the long jump (5.24m) and was fourth in the triple jump (10.89m), sixth in the high jump (1.50m) and seventh in the pole vault (2.15m).
Junior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) won the shot put (13.26m) and placed second in the wt. throw (16.05m). Freshman Tabatha Haskins (Medford/Shawnee) placed second in the 55m hurdles (8.47), second in the triple jump (11.47m) and third in the long jump (5.04m), senior Mechea Medine (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) was second in the long jump (5.09m), fifth in the 55m dash (7.59) and sixth in the triple jump (10.86m), junior Allyson Angelo (Brick, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was second in the pole vault (3.05m) and fifth in the long jump (5.00m) and junior Katie O’Connor (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) was second in the high jump (1.65m) and fourth in the 55m hurdles (8.71).
Senior Jamaal Harris (Beverly, N.J./Palmyra) placed second in both the 55m dash (6.45) and in the 200m (22.03), senior Adam Kucinski (Erial, N.J./Highland Regional) placed second in the pole vault (4.10m) and Tom Planter was second in the high jump (1.91m). Freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) was third in the 200m (22.35), fourth in the long jump (6.86m), fifth in the 400m (50.34) and sixth in the triple jump (13.87m). Vadim Menzorov placed third in the 55m hurdles (7.92), sophomore Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) placed third in the mile.
Junior Doug Beck (Branchburg/Somerville) was third in the shot put (15.50m) and fourth in the wt. throw (18.48m), qualifying for the IC4As in both events.
Sophomore Andre Fearon (Newark, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) was third in the 800m (1:54.19) and freshman Tim Cook (Glassboro) was third in the high jump (1.91m).
Senior Krystal Daniels (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) placed third in the women’s wt. throw (15.94m) and third in the shot put (12.28m), sophomore Rebecca Clatch (Drums, Pa./Hazelton Area) was third in the pole vault (3.05m), freshman Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) was third in the high jump (1.65m), sixth in the 55m hurdles (8.99) and sixth in the long jump (5.00m), senior Margaret Shipman (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) placed fourth in the wt. throw (14.20m) and fourth in the shot put (12.14m).
Marcellus Manning was fourth in the 55m hurdles (7.93), junior Kiel Ridolfino (Crosswicks, N.J./Northern Burlington Reg) placed fourth in the pole vault (3.65m), sophomore Paul Matuszak (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was fourth in the 3000m (8:38.16), junior Dave Lado (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) was fourth in the 800m (1:54.21).
Tim Garvin was fifth in the high jump (1.86m), junior Danny Enck (Lititz, Pa./Warwick ) was fifth in the wt. throw (15.85m), freshman Anthony Parillo (South River, N.J./South River) was sixth in the long jump (6.69m), Jim Collins placed sixth in the 400m (50.34).
Junior Danielle Holmes (Hackensack, N.J./Holy Angels) was fifth in the triple jump (10.86m), Laurne Deane placed fifth in the wt., throw (12.19m) and seventh in the shot put (10.60m), senior Jennifer Williams (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) was sixth in the pole vault (2.45m), freshman Kelly Wojciehowski (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson Fair Haven) placed seventh in the mile (5:33.74), sophomore Savannah Knox (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) placed seventh in the 400m (1:00.44), freshman Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) was seventh in the 800m (2:23.08), freshman Elizabeth Spokony (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) was seventh in the 200m (26.96), Jessica Marcasciano was seventh in the triple jump (10.51m) and junior Laura Carpenter (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) placed eighth in the 5000m (20:13.40).
Sophomore John Smith (Cliffwood Beach, N.J./Matawan) placed seventh in the 5000m (15:17.99) and senior Jay Hill (Matawan, N.J./St. John Vianney) was eighth in the 400m (51.03).
“We’re trying to set our own tradition, and second place is not going to be a part of the new tradition,” Pasquariello said.
