Rider at Covert Classic
Men 2nd of 13 – Women 5th of 12
BETHLEHEM, PA—The Broncs competed at the John Covert Classic Saturday, hosted by Lehigh University, with the men finishing second and the women finishing fifth. “Overall I’m pleased with our performances,” said Rider coach Rob Pasquariello. “We rested some kids who are a little banged up, but the people who competed did well.”
For the men junior Danny Enck (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) won the weight throw (16.20m) and was seventh in the shot put (13.82m), freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) won the triple jump (12.94m) and junior Doug Beck (Branchburg/Somerville) placed second in both the weight throw (15.99m) and the shot put (15.29m).
For the Rider women, Ashley Miller (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) won the triple jump (10.96m) and senior Krystal Daniels (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) won the wt. throw with an ECAC qualifying distance of 16.70m and finished third in the shot put (12.20m).
“With the times and the distances we are putting up we’re right on track for the conference meet,” Pasquariello said.
Also for the men’s team, sophomore Randy Nixon (Manorville, NY/West Hampton) finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.31) and third in the 60m (7.10), freshman Anthony Parillo (South River, N.J./South River) was second in the 400m (52.15), freshman Matt Dahl (West Keansburg, N.J./Raritan) was second in the 800m (1:57.14), sophomore Paul Matuszak (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was third in the 5000m (15:41.45), senior Adam Kucinski (Erial, N.J./Highland Regional) was fourth in the pole vault (4.20m) and sixth in the 60m (7.19), freshman Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) was fourth in the 60m (7.12m), sophomore Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) was fourth in the 800m (1:58.46), junior Tim Garvin (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) was fifth in the high jump (1.80m), sophomore Gary Morris (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was fifth in the 400m (52.87) and freshman Marcellus Manning (Richland, N.J./Buena) was sixth in the 60m hurdles (8.83).
Also for women’s team, junior Danielle Holmes (Hackensack, N.J./Holy Angels) was second in the triple jump (10.85m), freshman Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) was second in the 800m (2:25.40), junior Katie O’Connor (Forked River/Lacey Twp.) was second in the high jump (1.65m) and sixth in the 60m hurdles (9.42) and freshman Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) was second in the high jump (1.65m) and sixth in the triple jump (10.60m).
Sophomore Jessica Marcasciano (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) was third in the triple jump (10.84m), junior Allyson Angelo (Brick, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was fourth in the pole vault (3.05m) and sixth in the long jump (5.03m), freshman Elizabeth Spokony (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) was fifth in the long jump (5.07m) and fifth in the triple jump (10.65m) and senior Margaret Shipman (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) was fifth in the weight throw (13.56m) and seventh in the shot put (11.82m),
The Broncs compete at the Armory in New York at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational February 4-5.
